Summary

Engraving, black and on white print on paper, Christ in the Garden of Olives, after Paul Delaroche (Paris 1797 - Paris 1856) An engraving depicting Christ in a rocky landscape holding a goblet. Beneath the image is written, Peint par Paul de la Roche Grave par Jules François / LE CHRIST AU JARDIN DES OLIVIERS / Berlin verlag von GOUPIL AND CIE / Imprimé et Publié par GOUPIL et CIE le 1er Avril 1859 / PARIS LONDON / New York Published by M. KNOEDLER. On the back is a small oval, green paper sticker on which is printed in black reading, CARVINGS AND FANCY GOODS SHOW ROOMS PICTURE FRAMING AND GILDING / AUSTIN AND OATES / Swiss Depot / 9, PARK STREET, BRISTOL. Paper is very discoloured and the print has come away from the brown backing paper and out of its frame. Dark wood decorative Oxford frame with a gilt interior border. On the back are two metal rings, one each side of frame, with a length of cord.
