Summary
Rectangular black metal uniform trunk covered in a pattern of red crescent shapes. Centre key panel with metal catch fasteners on either side. Fasteners embossed with the name, CLOSEBIND. Carrying handle at either end. Two paper labels stuck to top. One printed over reads, Carter Patterson (and) Pickfords / Joint Parcels Services / Rail Traffic / CARRIAGE PAID. Partial second handwritten label reads, CARRIAGE FORWARD / To / Col Gibbs. Two labels on one end relating to GWR. Leather tape inside the edge of the lid coming away. The maker's mark in the lid incorporates a red circle and two hands and black with lettering reading, THE TWO BROTHERS / JONES BROTHERS (and) CO LTD / PATENT UNIFORM CASE / MADE IN ENGLAND / MANUFACTURED BY METAL UTILITIES (WOLVERHAMPTON) Ltd. WOLVERHAMPTON ENGLAND. A square red retailers mark reads, GOFFS / GOFITE / KING ST / COVENT GARDEN / LONDON W.C.2.
