Summary
Black coatee, or jacket, with heavy gold braided collar, cuffs and rear panel. Burnished gilt buttons mounted with the Royal Arms. Black silk lining. Part of the uniform / court dress worn by Sir Arthur Lawley during his time as Governor of Western Australia 1901 to 1902, Lieutenant-Governor the Transvaal 1902 to 1905 and Governor of Madras 1906 to 1911. A hand stitched, printed and handwritten label inside reads: Henry POOLE & Co / 37, 38, 39, SAVILE ROW, LONDON, W. / 1901 . 04 . 12 / No 3711 / Sir Arthur Lawley.
