Summary
A case consisting of a wooden base and a large glass dome, containing stuffed birds and butterflies. Large domes such as this were a remarkable feat and similar domes are no longer available. This display was set up by James Gardner of 426 Oxford Street, London (listed in trade directories from 1850-1879). Gardner snr. had a Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria and was one of the leading London taxidermists of the 19th century. His green trade label is at the back of the display.
