One of a pair of bedside tables commissioned by Basil (1887-1953) and Alice Muriel Gimson (1889-1970) from the workshop of Edward Barnsley (1900-87) and made by B. Upton for £10 15s 11d. The bedside tables furnished Five Oaks, Hampshire then Stoneywell, Leicestershire.
Provenance
One of a pair of bedside tables commissioned by Basil (1887-1953) and Alice Muriel Gimson (1889-1970) from the workshop of Edward Barnsley (1900-87), c.1930, £10 15s 11d. Made by B. Upton. Furnished Five Oaks, Hampshire then Stoneywell, Leicestershire. Thence by descent and on loan to the National Trust since 2012.
