Desk, oak, with one long and one short drawer above the kneehole, and three short drawers to the right-hand side, Edward Barnsley (1900-87), c. 1927. This is the 'oak typewriter's desk' commissioned by Sydney Gimson (1860-1938) from Barnsley and recorded in his expenses book as costing £11 4s 9d.

'Oak typewriter's desk' commissioned by Sydney Gimson (1860-1938) for Stoneywell, Leicestershire from Edward Barnsley (1900-89). Purchased for £11 4s 9d on 15 March 1927. Thence by descent and on loan to the National Trust since 2012.
