Summary
A pair of candlesticks, mild steel, with nine sided bases, designed by Ernest Gimson (1864-1919) and made by Alfred Bucknell (1878-1955), c.1913. Purchased by Basil (1887-1953) and Alice Muriel Gimson (1889-1970) to furnish Five Oaks, Hampshire and later brought to Stoneywell, Leicestershire.
Provenance
Pair of candlesticks made by Alfred Bucknell (1878-1955) to a design by Ernest Gimson (1864-1919), c. 1913. Purchased by Basil (1887-1953) and Alice Muriel Gimson (1889-1970) to furnish Five Oaks, Hampshire. Later brought to Stoneywell. Thence by descent and on loan to the National Trust since 2012.
