Summary
Refectory table, oak, raised on hexagonal legs and wishbone stretchers, Sidney Barnsley (1865-1926), c.1899. Purchased by Sydney (1860-1938) and Jane ‘Jeannie’ Gimson (1859-1923) for Stoneywell, Leicestershire on 27 May 1899 for £12 10s. Sydney later described the table as one of their 'best finds' from their visit to Barnsley's workshop at Pinbury in the Cotswolds in 1899 (Barley Roscoe, 'Stoneywell and the Gimsons - Furniture and Family History, Furniture History Today, vol. 50 (2014), p. 353). A shuffle board was later painted, and then chalked, on the table top.

Oak table by Sidney Howard Barnsley (1865-1926), purchased by Sydney (1860-1938) and Jane ‘Jeannie’ Gimson (1859-1923) for Stoneywell, Leicestershire on 27 May 1899 for £12 10s. Thence by descent and on loan to the National Trust since 2012.
