Summary
Railway lamp body. The body of a lamp for fitting above the smokebox on one of the Hunslet locomotives used on the Penrhyn Railway between the quarries and the port. The body is of cubic form in steel, originally painted black, but is now in a very rusty state. The front is hinged using two brass rods, and has a copper bezel to the circular aperture which originally contained a glass. Above the body is a rectangular chimney and a steel looped carrying handle. The chimney originally had an oval brass plate attached, indicating the maker, but this is missing. The back of the lamp has a slotted holder to fit over a lug on the locomotive.
