Summary
Railway lamp body. The body of a lamp for fitting above the smokebox on the locomotive 'Charles'. The body is of cubic form in steel, painted black, with a removable front secured by brass rods. One side panel with a brass fastner is hinged to allow the burner to be removed. The front has a circular convex glass with copper bezel in a steel frame. Above the body is a rectangular chimney and a steel looped carrying handle. The back of the lamp has a slotted holder to fit over a lug on the locomotive.
