Summary

Velocipede. A 4ft. (1219mm.) gauge man-powered velocipede used by workmen on the Padarn Railway between Llanberis and Port Dinorwic. Known as 'Black Bess', it has four rows of back seats with a total capacity of eight passengers. The power is provided by sets of shafts to be worked forwards and backwards by foot pedals. There is a brake at one end of the vehicle. The velocipede is painted maroon and black, and the seats are natural wood.
