Summary
Model railway locomotive. A 5in. (127mm.) gauge model of an 1899 Midland Railway 4-2-2 No. 2601 'Princess of Wales' steam locomotive, built by apprentices at the Royal Ordnance Factory, Chorley. The bogie has inside bearings but the driving and trailing wheels have outside bearings. A round-topped firebox is fitted and there is a large splasher over the driving wheels carrying the name. The cab offers only limited protection to the crew. The livery is 'Midland red' with yellow lining, and the wheels, footplate and smokebox are black.
