Summary
Rectangular wooden croquet set box with hinged lid. Plain D-shaped metal handles on a rectangular plate at each end. Angle bracket fixed at top back and front of box (all rusty). Labelled on outside front within black oval shape; JAQUES' PRIZE MEDAL CROQUET / 13. Green and white paper label on the top reads; TOURNAI / (missing letters possibly Croquet Set) / As used by the Croquet Association, and all the / leading Clubs and Players. / Mat [...] JAQU [...] (illegible). Lid has two triangular hinges, supported by metal chain on inside. Oval brass plate held by two rivets reads; JAQUES (and) SON / MAKERS / LONDON. Four purple elastic loops glued at bottom, two on each side - one above the other. Base of box; the space is divided by two lengthwise wooden sections (55mm high) one at each side. In the middle; a rectangular space divided into sections. The croquet set consists of mallets, diverse coloured pegs, balls, flags and hoops.
