Summary
Map print in black on white of six vertical strips from a roll showing the route from Oxford to Bristol. Centre top, rectangular inset of hunting scene with coat of arms. Inside this, further rectangular inset with black printing; The Road from / OXFORD to BRISTOL / By JOHN OGILBY Esq. / His Ma.ties Cosmograph.r / Containing 68. mile viz.t / From OXFORD to FIFIELD. 8.6 to Faringdon, 9 m / to Hiworth, 6, to Purton, 8; Malmsbury, 10,2 / to Luckington, 7m, 2 to Puckle.Church, 10.6 / and to BRISTOLL 8. Frame is ebonised wood with gold coloured bands on outer and inner edges. Reverse has wood backing attached to frame with brown sticky paper. Paper label is black on white reading; ALFRED DAVIS, / ESTABLISHED 1860 / DEALER IN OLD ENGRAVINGS / 17 KING'S ROAD, Sloane Square / 69a DUKE STREET, / Grosvenor Square. Two metal rings with metal picture wire.
