Summary
Print, aquatint, One Mile from Gretna, our Governor in Sight with a Screw Loose ! (after Charles B. Newhouse) by Richard Gilson Reeve (London 1803 – 1889). Entitled; ONE MILE FROM GRETNA / our governor in sight with a screw loose! The scene shows an open coach with four horses, two blue coated postillions, and a man standing in the coach holding the hand of a woman. In the rear of the coach there is a red coated man with a telescope looking backwards at a broken down coach in the background. Beneath the scene to the left is printed; Painted by C. B. Newhouse. In the centre is printed; Published by B. Moss (and) Co Leman St., Goodmans Fields. To the right is printed; Engraved by R. Reeves. The frame is ebonised wood and the back of the picture is lined with brown paper.
