Summary
Aquatinted engraving on paper of lower Avon Gorge. The scene shows the gorge with sailing ship with paddle steamer, cottage and out buildings. On the left bank there is a rowing boat and two men and on the right bank there is a rocky shore and over hanging trees. Above the scene is written, No 27. Below the scene is written, PRINTED (and) PUBLISHED BY G ROWNEY (and) Co 52, RATHBONE PLACE, (and) 29 OXFORD ST. LONDON. / THE AVON Nr BRISTOL. The inner edge of the card mount has five concentric line rectangles. The ebonised wood frame has a gilt inner and outer edge. On the back is a white paper label with red ink handwriting that reads, Lord Wraxall / Printed FROST (and) REED / Ltd / BRISTOL LONDON / No R4486 Date 20-7-55.
