Summary

Watercolour on paper, The Squire (Henry Chaplin, 1st Viscount Chaplin (1840-1923)) and Lady Florence Chaplin following the hounds by by B.J. Nightingale (Basil Nightingale (Maldon 1864 – Banbury 1940) 1877. A handwritten inscription on the reverse reads 'This picture was given to the Marchioness of Londonderry by Charles Hammond, Letter (?) to the 1st Viscount Chaplin and was given by her to the Hon Mrs Richard Hoare (1947) It was painted by the younger Nightingale when a by and depicts a hunt in the park at Blankny and portrays the "Squire" and Lady Florence Chaplin following the hounds-

Purchased by the National Trust from the Estate of Lady Mairi Bury (1921-2009) as part of the remaining contents of the picture store, 2012
