Summary
An illuminated manuscript, inside a magnificent silver-gilt and enamelled casket, T&J Bragg Ltd, Birmingham, 1899, retailed by Gibson of Belfast, together with a leather bound and illuminated manuscript within, presented with enclosed address to "Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest Stewart, Viscount Castlereagh on attaining his majority by the tenantry of the County Down Estates of the Most Noble the Marquess of Londonderry KG., Mount Stewart 1899". This oblong silver-gilt casket is in the gothic style with gadroon borders, each of six panels around the sides enclosing various enamelled scenes of Northern Ireland, the alternate panels enclosing armorials, inscriptions and ovals illustrative of learning, industry, war etc, (lid is dented and an enamel panel to the lid finial is missing).
