Summary
A pair of green-painted and polychrome-decorated children's chairs, British, 19th century, both chairs with a back formed of two round uprights terminating in turned finials, these uprights joined by a wide top rail and slender lower back rail, these joined by a panel flanked on either side by a turned spindle, the top rail painted with doves and foliage, centred by an oval depicting a building in a country setting, the uprights, back panel, spindles and lower rail all decorated with painted yellow lines, flowers and leaves, the rush seat above two rounded legs to the front with shaped feet, the back uprights extending down to form the rear legs, terminating in tapering feet, the legs joined by turned spindles, the front legs and stretcher with painted with yellow lines, and leaves.
