Summary
A mahogany bedroom chair, British, late 19th century, the back formed of two rounded uprights united by a shaped toprail carved with two opposing scroll-forms, two further cross rails joined by a vertical turned spindle flanked by four plain spindle to either side, a further single cross bar near the base of the back, the padded seat upholstered in patterned fabric, on turned and tapering front legs and splayed rounded rear legs, the legs joined by two spindle stretchers to each side, and a single stretcher between the front and rear legs. This chair is of the same design as another (NT 1656312) located in the 'Sebastopol' bedroom in Mount Stewart.
