Summary
Print, engraving, Christ, The Good Shepherd (after William Charles Thomas Dobson, RA) by Robert Graves (London 1798 - London 1873). In black ink on white paper of figure of Christ with a shepherd's staff, halo and holding a lamb. Sheep are in background and there is a curved arch to the top of image. Above is printed; London published Dec 6th 1870 by Henry Graves (and) Co Proprietors 6 Pall Mall Copyright registered. Below is printed; W.C.T. Dobson A.R.A. PINXT. LONDON, PUBLISHED DECR 6TH 1870, BY HENRY GRAVES (and) CO THE PROPRIETORS, 6 PALL MALL. ROBERT GRAVES, A.R.A. SCULPT. / THE GOOD SHEPHERD. Gilt wood inner frame and ebonised rustic carved outer frame, branch style carved decoration with additional decorative piece to top of frame consisting of cross with olive branches woven around it. On reverse, wooden back plate hand written in pencil; over F.Place No 3 from R. Damage to frame, woodworm. Bottom of frame has become detached and a piece has broken off. Two metal hanging loops, one each side of frame.
