Image shows Kitchener in a mountainous landscape in military uniform and greatcoat with left hand on sword. Man in turban holding a spear behind Kitchener. Below image, handwriting in pencil reads, John Collier / Kitchener / Percy H Martindale. Printing on the mount reads, FIELD MARSHAL THE EARL KITCHENER OF KHARTOUM, K.G. / SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR / 1914-1916. Wooden frame in gold and black. Frame outer and inner edges gold with black band in between. Inner edge decorated with repeated semicircle design, outer edge with ridged line pattern. Backboard of rough wood held in place with small nails. Remnants of black backing paper to left edge and bottom right corner. Two metal eyehooks screwed into frame with metal rings.
