Summary
Flag. White ensign flag from 'Liberty'. Plain weave wool flag. George Cross, off-white with thick red cross across the main flag with Union Jack to upper left hand segment. Liberty was the yacht used by Courtenay Charles Evan Morgan, 3rd Baron Tredegar and 1st Viscount Tredegar (2nd Creation), OBE, CBE, K.J.St.J., FRES, FSA (1867-1934). The vessel was also used as a hospital ship during used World War I.
Provenance
Part of the original collection of Tredegar House acquired by the Morgan family prior to 1951 to furnish the property. Acquired by Newport City Council from 1974-2012. On loan, with Tredegar House, from Newport City Council to the National Trust. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
