Summary
Plate warmer. A rectangular iron plate warmer with open back and domed top. Decorated with black-japanned finish with exotic birds, flower and insect design, and fragments of mother-of-pearl. The front has a singular, hinged door with floral brass handle. Inside are three plain shelves, each with two vertical column supports. Each side has brass carrying rings, attached by ornamental brass foliate plates. Rests on four, curved and ornamental legs with paw feet.
Provenance
Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
