Summary
Albion press invented in 1820 by Richard Whittaker Cope. The Albion was considered to be more compact and speedier than the Columbian and this increased its sales. The press located in Gray's could print a sheet up to 24 inches by 18 inches in size. The machine uses a spring mechanism to lift the platen after printing.
