Summary
A green and black silk handkerchief, weave-patterned with waving bands and brocaded with spots of copper-coloured metal thread. The fabric is a narrow weave, and appears to have been designed specifically to be cut into squares: two side edges are selvedges and two are cut. A manufacturer’s label (woven) reads, MYER / MADE IN INDIA / 100% SILK’.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Khadambi Asalache upon his death in 2006; acquired fully in November 2010.
Marks and inscriptions
Off one side of handkerchief.: “MYER / MADE IN INDIA / 100% SILK”, in black script on white.
