Summary
A Louis XVI mantel clock, the circular enamelled dial with strike/silent movement inscribed Payne and Co. London, in drum-shaped case surmounted by a garland of acorns and oak leaves centred by a ribbon-tie and supported by a fluted truncated column, the rectangular breakfront base with Vitruvian scroll frieze supporting a muse emblematic of Astronomy, with a celestial globe, charts and a telescope at her feet.
