Pastel on paper (oval), Lady Lavinia Agnes Parker, Lady Lavinia Agnes Dutton ( 1816-13), British (English) School, 19th century. A head-and-shoulders portrait,almost full face, her left hand to her chin. her hair worn with a central parting and looped under her ears. She wears an elaborate low-cut lace collar with lace cuff.
Full description
This portrait of Ralph’s grandmother, Lavinia Dutton (1816-93), was probably painted after her marriage to John Thomas Dutton (1810-84) in 1836. Lavinia and John transformed Hinton Ampner into a Victorian house ‘properly filled with bric-a-brac’ furnishings.
