Teabowl from a Kloster Veilsdorf cabaret, hard paste porcelain, comprising: teapot and cover, sugar bowl and cover, milk jug and cover (knob on milk jug missing), two teabowls and saucers. The rectangular tray possibly painted by Theodor Gottfried Doell (1748-after 1792), with bouquets of flowers, the borders with green drapery and puce floral garlands within gilt dentil, CV monogram in undergflaze blue, Kloster (Closter) Vielsdorf, Thuringia, circa 1770. Old paper label inscribed ‘Volkstadt / Manuf. of Sitzerode / Thuringia’, quoting from Joseph Marryat, 'Collections', 1850.
