Summary
Terracotta, Minerva as Patroness of the Arts and Sciences, Franco Flemish School. A Louis XVI terracotta group emblematic of the Arts and Sciences, modelled with Minerva, her right hand resting on a terrestrial globe, her left hand holding a parchment scroll supported by a winged putti astride a classical pillar, a seated putti behind her with an artist's palette, a musical score and sculptural bust, on a rectangular base. This pleasing allegory may have been the model for a much larger piece of sculpture crowning a building
