Summary
A Wallace Heaton Zodel Plate Camera. The body is wooden covered with black leather. The fron panel is metal and when open is supported bt two chrome stays. The bellows is black leather and focusing is via a rack and pinion mechanism. The lens pans travels on a pair of chrome rails. A scale is indicated on the baseplate, or focusing can be tuned using the ground glass screen at the rear. There is a rotating brilliant viewfinder mounted on the lans panel with its own spiririt level. There is a seperate pop-up viewfinder on the side of the body. The lens panel has a rising facility and the Compur shutter has speeds to 1/250 sec. The casing is marked 'Compur'. On the side is serial number 753568. The lens has a maximum aperture of f6.3 and it has the marking 'D.R.P. No 258646 D.R.G.M.' At the rear of the camera, a hooded ground glass focusing screen can be used prior to insertion of the plate. This assembly is leather covered with 'Zodel' in the leather. The plater size is 6.5x9cm. On the base is a tripod mount and one on the side, opposite which is a leather handle embossed 'Zodel'. Below the lens panel, a chrome plate reads 'Zodel Wallace Heaton Ltd'.
