Summary

Mahogany plate holder. Simple wooden construction to take two glass plates. Each side is a frame containing a sliding cover plate. All fittings are made of brass, hinges and clips to hold the two halves together. The interior surfaces are painted black. One side is stamped 1 and the other side is stamped 2. The metal dividing plate is missing.
