Summary
Seagull 4A twin lens reflex 1120 roll film camera taking 6cm X 6cm negatives. The whole is a metal construction box with leather effect finish. The top of the camera is the fold down viewfinder, the top plate has a push in section with a Seagull logo which pushes the lens of the chimney style viewfinder into position. It also locks down so that the orifice can form part of a simple frame viewfinder. The back of the top plate is marked “No 06911”. The right side of the camera has an eyelet for a strap attachment and the large film advance crankhandle. There is a webbing neck strap in place. The left side has an eyelet for a strap attachment a live accessory shoe, two knurled knobs which connect with the two film rollers and a large knurled mechanism which sets focus by moving the entire standard forwards. It is marked from 1 metre to 20 metres and infinity and has an aperture guide in the centre. The back and base of the camera comprise the opening to the film compartment which is accessed by turning the large knurled disc, which contains a tripod socket, on the base from C to O and then lifting the base up and back. The base has four metal feet. The front of the camera has a plate at the top which is embossed “Seagull” . Below is the standard with the two lenses in a figure 8 formation. The top / viewing lens is marked “Haiou SA – 91 1:2.8/75”. The lower lens is marked “Haiou SA – 91 1:3.5/75 and has controls on either side. As in use, on the right is the shutter speed selection marked from B – 300 and on the left the aperture selection marked from 3.5 – 22. Below the lens mount is marked “Shanghai China”. Below the lens mount is the shutter release on the right and a flash synch shoe on the left. There is a plastic lens cap in place marked “Seagull” on the top lens area and the logo on the lower lens area.
