Summary
A monochrome gelatine silver glass lantern slide entitled "The Gardener". The image depicts a bronze statue of a young male figure leaning on a spade. The statue is in Kew Gardens and is by Arthur George Atkinson. It is entitled "Out in the Fields" and this is inscribed in the plinth along with the date of erection: 1929. Two sheets of glass, 83 mm x 83 mm, one of which carries the image and the other is a cover glass, bound together with black paper tape. Behind the cover glass there is a black and white geometric/grid and circle patterned paper mask over the image with square corners. Above the image, also behind the glass, is a white label upon which has been handwritten in black ink: "The Gardener". There is a white circle at the top left corner. On the reverse of the slide is a white label affixed to the top border upon which has been handwritten in pencil: "Boniface".
