Summary
Monochrome gelatine silver glass lantern slide entitled "The Doorway". The image depicts four steps at the front of a house, leading to the front door, with rails each side. The side of the house nearest the camera is covered in foliage. In the background is another doorway, with two steps. The street appears to be cobbled. Two sheets of glass, 83 mm x 83 mm, one of which carries the image and the other is a cover glass, bound together with black paper tape. Behind the cover glass there is a black and white geometric/grid patterned paper mask over the image with square corners. The image is off-center, with the right hand side of the mask being wider than the left. Above the image is a white label upon which has been handwritten in black ink: "The Doorway". There is a white circle at the top left corner. Handwritten in white ink on the black border is 'A E Boniface, Class III'.
