Summary
A Phenakistoscope disc depicting a brown frog jumping, with green grass/pond weed design in the centre. The disc is thick card and has a central hole 10mm in diameter, and 20 notches 18 mm deep cut into the edges. There are 19 drawings of a frog, each in a slightly different position. When viewed in motion with the Phenakistoscope, it would give the impression of the frog jumping forward. The disc is now quite dirty and has some surface damage Markings on verso: Stamped in black ink: "Barnes Collection"; handwritten in black felt pen: "113 C". There is a white label affixed, upon which is printed in black "245", and which has been stamped in red ink with "5 Dec 1985".

Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
