Summary
Two packs of XXXXX Paget's Prize Plates, H & D Speed 200. XXXXX refers to five times the speed of a wet-plate. One pack is unopened, containing 12 plates, size 4¾" x 6½". The other pack is identical but has been opened and contains 6 plates, wrapped in paper, and a leaflet; white paper printed in black ink on one side only, giving information about Soda Developer. Each is a red covered cardboard box, with sliding inner and white paper label giving details of other products manufactured by the Paget Prize Plate Company Ltd. of Watford. Ink stamped on the label: 1A and 6119 L14.
Provenance
Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
