Summary
Case for a Sikes Hydrometer. Strong wooden construction, slightly domed top and bottom and covered externally with black leather. The two parts of the case are hinged and fasten with a sprung press button catch. The case has a brass plaque on the lid engraved: "Sikes Hydrometer BUSS 48 Hatton Garden London E.C." Internally the case is fitted out with a blue plush covered block which leaves room for the thermometer and has a depression for the hydromete to rest in. There are ten ivorine posts set into the block which hold the weightswhich appears to indicate that there should be ten weights and that 20, 50, 60 and 100 are missing. The lid of the case is padded and lined with blue satin.
