Summary

Sikes Hydrometer. Brass construction consisting of a hollow sphere with a flat brass bar calibrated from 0 - 10. On the side of this bar is engraved No 3050 Sikes 1P51 degrees and on the other side 1P. Opposing the calibrated bar is a tapered rod with an acorn shaped finial which the weights slot on to.

Provenance

Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986
