Summary
Lovibond Tintometer. Scientific instrument for water monitoring. It works by using comparison filters to assess the colour. The instrument is wooden and the viewing tunnel is hinged from the base and may be set in a range of positions using a prop. An enamel plate on the top reads 'Tintometer Patent J.W.Lovibond, Salisbury No.1515A'.

Part of The Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986
