Summary
Williamson 35mm rewind gear with counter.
Full description
Williamson 35mm film rewind gear. It comprises of a solid wooden base, with a metal reel stand at each end. The "turning" stand has a metal and wood handle which turns a geared wheel, which turns a brass spindle (which would hold the reel). The other stand has a spring on its fixed spindle (to ensure there is tension on the reel during the rewind). Bolted to the base is a brass film counter. It has a circular white plastic (?) horizontal face with black numbering. The outer dial is numbered from 0-100 feet, in 10 feet increments and the inner dial from 0-1000 feet in 100 feet increments. In the centre is a brass pointer that can be moved by hand. Below this is the Williamson trademark - a "W" in a 6-pointed star. Attached to the counter is the brass film movement mechanism of 2 guide rollers, either side of a cog wheel roller (sprocket), which actually moves the film. Markings: On the other side of the mechanism is a screwed-in plaque, " The Williamson Kinematograph Co. Ltd, Manufacturers & Shippers, 28 Denmark St, Charing Cross Rd, WC".
