Summary
Empty tin of Elephant Carbide. This is a cylindrical container with no top. The background colour is yellow with a red border around a front and back panel to occupy most of the surface. The front panel has in red "Registered Trade Mark" with a black elephant between the words and on the elephant the word "Disinfectant" in yellow, below on a black scroll are the words "Fever, Typhoid, Cholera, Dirt." Below is an ornate red panel with bordes of yellow and black. The panel reads " BEST QUALITY ELEPHANT CARBIDE". Below in red "The Elephant Brand. The Standard Brand." Below is an circular panel in black which reads in yellow and red "2lbs Net weight, Elephant Carbide Always full weight. The back panel starts with a black scroll reading "Elephant Carbide" in yellow and red. below in red "CA C2" and another copy of the Trade Mark under which in red reads "DANGEROUS IF NOT KEPT DRY". Next in Black “Carbide of Calcium Prepared for Charging Acetylene lamps. Under this in yellow on red background “The contents of this package are liable, if brought into contact with moisture , to give off a highly inflammable gas”.
