Summary
Hughes lanternist's lamp: lecture oil lamp, with signal bell. The lamp is black metal alloy with a tilting canopy below which there is a removable oil burner with a glass shield. On the side of the unit is a bell and a spring mounted striker. The top has a vent. On the canopy is a golden label 'W.C Hughes Optician, Brewster House, 82, Mortrimer Rd, Kingsland Rd N, London'. At the front of the unit is a small red glass disc.
