Summary
Gas burner safelight. Large, black japanned tin darkroom safelight with batswing gas burner. This has a plain metal back platewith a rivet and solder additional plate presumably for hanging the unit up. Both sides have trapezoid red glass panel. There is a gas fitment on one side with a tap to control the gas. The front looks as though it once opened to allow access to the burner but it is now soldered shut. It comprises a metal framed red glass panel. The top has a strong metal carrying handle which is rivetted and soldered to the top. There is also a metal chimney in the form of two cones joined at their bases.
