Summary
The Refulgent paraffin burner safelight. This is of folded metal construction. It has a square cast metal base with four legs through which the paraffin burner is located. The sheet metal sides converge to form a rectangular chimney. The whole leans forward slightly and on the front is a dark red glass plate which should open to allow access to the burner. There is a hinged hood whihc folds down over the aperture and there is a screw knob arrangement that enables the hood to be fixed in any position from closed to fully open. On the hood is a plate which reads "The Refulgent" On the back of the lamp there are two wire handles for carrying and positioning the lamp and a screw topped filler tube to fill the paraffin tank. On one side of the lamp iscontrol knob for adjusting the wick. The lamp has been painted with black paint and this appears to have stuck most of the working parts of the lamp and prevent further investigation/description.
