Summary
Plate density meter tester. The unit compri9ses a large wooden box containing a series of metal baffles, and electric light bulb and a cylindrical unit with a series of orifices. Within this chamber is a bloack of clear glass attached to a table. The position of the electric bulb is varied from outside and the rod on which this is mounted has a scale marked. Whilst the precise functioning of the unit is unclear, it is thought that the sensitivities were judged from the response to the light in various positions. Results are viewed through an eyepiece (1525136.2). Two orifices in the box sides are covered with spring loaded sheets. The unit is mounted on rubber blocks. It is believed this device was used by Driffield or associate.
