Summary
A stereoscope made in walnut with brass fittings. The plane may be tilted at four different angles by means of a decorative prop. The lenses are fixed so focus is achieved by moving the focal plane. A large single magnifying lens is mounted on brass stalks. An enamel plate below the eyepieces reads 'Watson & Son 313 High Holborn London'.
Provenance
Part of the Fenton Collection. A gift from British Film Institute in 2017. From 1986-1999, part of BFI collection for the Museum of the Moving Image. BFI purchased collection in 1986 from James Fenton's Museum of Photography, Port Erin, Isle of Man 1976-1986.
