Summary
A Brewster-Pattern stereoscope made by the London Stereoscopic Co., London. The stereoscope has a wedge-shaped body made of polished walnut and has brass tubular lenses with sliding focusing adjustment. The lens panels slide to vary the eye-piece separation. The front of the stereoscope has a framed, ground glass panel with a slot either side for inserting the stereoscopic image. Rear hinged flap, with small bone knob, for illuminating tissue or glass views. Markings: A bone circular maker's label, set into the wood, engraved in black ink: "The London Stereoscopic Company, 54 Cheapside & 313 Oxford St."
