Summary
A Midg No. 2 falling plate magazine box camera, imported/manufactured by Wm Butcher & Sons. The box camera contains 12 metal plate holders. The camera body is wood covered in black leatherette, stamped with a linear border on each side. There are two brilliant viewfinders (top and side view). On the top is a leather carrying strap. Black shutter speed dial on front with f stops: 8, 11, 16, 22, 32 There is a concealed lens and a shutter release switch on side of body. At the rear is a door accessing the plate magazine (quarter plate size). In the magazine are 12 empty metal plate holders. Inside the body of the camera are a set of 12 metal plate holders which are stamped with the numbers 1 to 12 Markings: Small circular engraved badge, on lower front, inscribed: "MIDG, Butchers Famous, British Made". Serial number 25227 stamped inside the rear door. Below the built-in lens, stamped on the black painted metal, no.424952 .
