Summary
Houghtons Klito No 1 Box Falling box-plate camera. A wooden camera with black leatherette covering and a black leather handle on the top. Divided back door to allow exposed plates to be moved without interfering with unexposed plates. A Rapid Achromatic lens with an iris diaphragm. Rack and pinion adjustable lens focus. Black leather bellows. A patent Klito shutter which allows the front shutter to be tested and adjusted without exposing the plates. Inside are 9 metal plate holders for 3¼ x 4¼ plates. The shutter release button is on the side of the camera. Two brilliant viewfinders one the top and side of body. Tripod bushes on side and base of body. Markings: On the front below the lens a plastic plate with "Made by Houghtons London" and the Ensign flag. . On the side a metal plate with "Klito No 1 British Made". On the insdie of the smaller door at the back engraved in the wood 347. On the larger rear door a small white plastic plate with "Sold at A.H. Baird Edinburgh"
